Yuck. This is the Bus as I found it. I must first thank my buddies Tim and Art for all their help, without them this mess would still be rotting where you see it! Thanks TONS guys!! Ok, from what I know the Bus sat here since the mid 60's or so, when I find out more I'll add it. It had no engine and the tranny was lying on the ground. Moving on..
Getting it rolling We picked up the transmission from the ground and stuffed it back in after the Bus was jacked up. Amazingly the axles still turned and the transmission looked pretty OK, I'd like to have it rebuilt down the road though. Unfortunately the engine was nowhere to be found, I looked allover. We found the original rear wheels under the middle of the Bus after we jacked it up! We added some air and the tires held up great, amazing, huh? |
Nice taillights.. Here you see the tail end of this...thing. I have no idea what those fugly taillights are off of but they're quite awful. The engine hatch is really not in bad shape, the hinge isnt too great and the section it attaches to is pretty rusted but that can be fixed. The left corner is in great shape but the right is partially missing, so that's bad. We found the original rear bumper, engine tin, crank, and even little ruler to tell how much gas is in the tank inside the Bus.
The dash. Here we have the dashboard. I really like the style of it! The previous owner added that ugly turn signal switch, shelf and I think the radio. The radio is a very odd one as it looks like it's attached in a half-assed way, yet has this very interesting antenna that comes out between the windshields and extends over the roof! That stays, obviously as it looks great, to me anyways.. The speedo reads around 79,000 miles and I think that may be original from what I've been told about the Bus. |
